Mr. Guttag has over 25 years of experience in all aspects of patent prosecution, including patentability, validity and infringement opinions, procurement of domestic and foreign patents, and client counseling. Mr. Guttag is a chemistry and biochemistry specialist, but also has extensive experience in writing applications for software processes, digital technology and mechanical devices. Mr. Guttag is registered to practice before the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Mr. Guttag has received an “AV Preeminent” Peer Rating in Martindale-Hubbell.

Mr. Guttag possesses a wide range of client experience from independent inventors to established companies in the fields of: antimicrobial coatings, radiation dosimeters, lipid multilayer arrays, pharmaceuticals, materials science, lasers, transceivers, nanotechnology, chemical and mechanical holographic storage technology, digital display technology and data analysis systems.

  • Supervising the work of junior attorneys and technical assistants in the prosecution of utility applications in a variety of technical fields.
  • Handling all aspects of patent prosecution for domestic and foreign clientele including drafting, reviewing, and revising work product details and client correspondence.
  • Researching and analyzing scientific and patent materials relevant to patent prosecution, patent opinion analysis, patent validity, and patent infringement issues.
  • Training junior attorneys and technical assistants including weekly presentations on intellectual property issues.
